The Despacito album reached its peak chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly made in Spanish hit at the very top of 100. The number grew to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in the year. In the following year, a number of popular artistes began to collaborate with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) while Madonna worked with Maluma on Medellin. In the years 2020, many Reggaeton musicians were expressing their displeasure with how the genre was moving toward the mainstream. Yet, a newer generation Rauw Alejandro, was keen to push forward the progression. In his music, he often used elements from electronic dance music, and various other styles.
