In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track during the course of 6 months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music did not just draw people back to this style, but also to Latin music in general. In 2015, there were two predominantly Spanish-language tracks on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the Top 100 In 2020, there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber's bilingual remake of Despacito came out in the year 2017. Then, popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton musicians. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated with Maluma on Medellin. In the years 2020, many Reggaeton artists were complaining about its direction towards the mainstream. But, the younger generation Rauw Alejandro, was keen to maintain the development. The genre often incorporated elements of different genres as well as electronic dance.
