Zoe Saldana's parents Asalia And Aridio Saldana, were born on the 19th of June 1978, in Passaic New Jersey. Her father was Dominican and her mother is Puerto Rican. Her parents raised their daughter within Queens, New York. The family she was raised with moved from Queens, New York in the Dominican Republic when she was 10, and lived there for seven years. Zoe began to develop an interest in performance dancing during her time in the Dominican Republic. In the highly regarded ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy Zoe took ballet classes and various other dance styles. Her training was not only an excellent opportunity for this energetic and eager young person, but was also an excellent training for her future acting profession. When she was 17 years old, Zoe and her family moved back in her home in the United States where her love for dance followed and an desire to perform in the theater grew stronger.
