Anna Silk was born in Fredericton as the daughter of Peter Silk, an academic, and Ilkay Silk, an multi-talented actor as well as a producer, director and playwright, teacher, and director of drama in St. Thomas University. Her father is from Britain, while her mother is a "Turkish ex-pat from Cyprus who is now living in England."
